[ARCHIVED] Parks and Recreation Hosts First-Ever Holiday Diorama Contest

Assorted Christmas-themed diorama pieces arranged for crafting.

Siloam Springs Parks and Recreation is thrilled to announce its inaugural Holiday Diorama Contest, inviting community members to showcase their creative spirit this holiday season. The contest encourages participants to craft imaginative miniature holiday scenes within a 12”x12”x12” cube, promising a festive and engaging experience for all involved.

"We're excited to try a fun, offbeat way of engaging the community in the holiday spirit and providing another reason to spend quality time in our parks downtown,” said Travis Chaney, Parks and Recreation Manager. “I don’t think most people know this, but if you start at the Parks Office and walk through our network of historic parks along Sager Creek, down Broadway, up to Memorial Park, and loop back, you’re going to enjoy over a mile of really quaint, unique holiday displays. You add in a cup of hot cocoa or a warm pastry from a shop downtown, and you’ve got yourself a Hallmark-level holiday outing."

Entries must be submitted to the Parks & Rec Office located at 400 W University St. during business hours (8AM-5PM) no later than 5 PM on Friday, December 1. To participate, individuals must include their name and phone number placed on the back or bottom of the diorama. The Holiday Dioramas will be displayed throughout December in one of the large illuminated windows of the Parks & Rec Office. The public is invited to view the displays and vote for their favorite diorama via a QR code. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, December 27.

While participants are encouraged to showcase their creativity, Parks & Rec reserves the right not to display dioramas with vulgar or offensive content. Unclaimed dioramas will be discarded after Friday, January 19th. Participants are encouraged to ensure their submissions align with the provided guidelines.
