On Saturday, October 21, 250 trees will be given out in the Siloam Springs Public Library parking lot from 8 to 10 a.m. with a limit of two trees per household. No proof of residency required.

Below is a list of trees that will be given away.

25 Sugar Maple, 3 gallon
32 Serviceberry, 7 gallon
25 American Beautyberry, 3 gallon
18 Redbud, 7 gallon
25 White Flowering Dogwood, 7 gallon
25 Spring Witchhazel, 3 gallon
25 Oakleaf Hydrangea, 3 gallon
25 Shrubby St. Johnswort, 3 gallon
25 Sweetbay Magnolia, 3 gallon
25 Blackgum, 7 gallon

"Planting a tree is one of the great gifts a person can give to posterity,” said Travis Chaney, Parks and Recreation Manager. “The Walton Family Foundation has been sponsoring this giveaway in cities across the region for many years now, and it is a fantastic initiative that aims to improve our urban tree canopy. It’s hard to overstate the benefits of healthy urban forests: cleaner air, less stormwater runoff, shadier streets, habitat for wildlife, the list goes on."
