[ARCHIVED] Dale Bennett Marks Forty Years with the City of Siloam Springs

Dale Bennett marks his 40-year employment anniversary with the City on April 14, 2022. What an accomplishment! Throughout his career, all of Dale’s service has been within Public Work in the water and wastewater divisions. He spent five years in wastewater and 35 years at the Water Treatment Plant with his favorite position being a water treatment operator. We asked Dale a few questions and love hearing his answers. 


Question: What does a typical shift look like for you? 

Answer: The job consists of sample collection and analysis, manipulating water treatment flows, chemicals, valves, and other equipment, performing maintenance on a large amount of WTP, water towers, and booster station equipment, and a lot of data logging


Question: What’s your biggest achievement to date- person and professional? 

Answer: Personal- being married for 40 years, raising kids, and owning property.

Professional- Obtaining water treatment, distribution, and wastewater licenses, in turn making a good living and life for myself and my family


Question: If you could switch jobs with someone, who would it be?

Answer: I wouldn’t, that’s why I’ve been in the water/wastewater business for 40 years, I love it.


Question: What do you like most about your job?

Answer: The team I work with.


Question: What advice would you give to new employees?

Answer: Hang in there and stick with it, even when it’s tough, do your best and it pays off.


Question: How do you spend your time outside of work?

Answer: Riding my motorcycle and thinking about going fishing. 


Question: What’s most important to you in life (no work talk here!)?

Answer: My family.
