Governor Hutchinson 4/20/21 COVID Press Conference 

Total cases= 333,709 with an increase of 198 since yesterday. 

Total active cases= 1,804, with an increase of 15 since yesterday. 

Total deaths= 5,706, up 7 from yesterday. 

Hospitalizations= 77, up by 13 since yesterday. 

Top counties for new cases: Benton 29, Pulaski 26, Washington 22 

We continue to receive our federal allocation of the vaccine with a total of 2,291,620 an increase of 29,490 in the last 24 hours. 

Given out 19,583 vaccinations in the last 24 hours 

637,872 individuals are already fully immunized. 

There’s an ample supply of vaccines- we need to increase demand. 

Governor’s goal is to have 1 Million vaccinated. We are still shy of that goal by approximately 27,000.  

14.2% of Arkansans are partially vaccinated. 27.5% are fully vaccinated. We are below the national average vaccination rate.  

Vaccinations broken down by age: 52.5% of those over 65 have been fully vaccinated, 20.1% of individuals aged 18-64 have been fully vaccinated, 1.8% of individuals under age 18 have been fully vaccinated 

We need to work on the 18-64 age group to increase vaccinations.  

Vaccinations broken down by race: 55.8% of Hispanic individuals have been fully vaccinated and 22.2% have been partially vaccinated; 49.1% of white individuals have been fully vaccinated and 13% have been partially vaccinated; 45.1% of black individuals have been fully vaccinated and 15.4% have been partially vaccinated.  

Children are still susceptible to the virus. The new strain cases are increasing in children and the virus tends to be more severe than the original strain.  

>All local offices of the Department of Health will have the vaccine next week. Call the vaccine hotline to schedule an appointment. There is a location with vaccines in each county in Arkansas.
