Governor Hutchinson 1/19/2021 COVID Press Conference 

> New cases 1,331 (while high number, it is significantly lower than a week ago) 

> Active cases have gone down 1,854 

> Up 43 deaths to 4,386 

> 841 confirmed cases, 490 probably cases in the last 24 hours 

> Top counties: Pulaski 268, Benton 132, Washington 118, Faulkner 85, Sebastian 70 

> Up 2 hospitalizations to 1,265 

> Significant decline in new cases in the last week.  

> Received an additional 18,600 doses for a total of 374,300 doses. We’ve given out 154,235 doses to date. Currently in the 1-B phase.  

> How do I know where to go to get a vaccination? If you’re in the priority group for 70+ go to the ADH website and click on the COVID 19 vaccination page.  

> Concerns about more/new strains- this is normal with a new disease; however, it means we cannot let up in trying to slow the spread. This new virus variants that spread more easily could lead to a rapid rise in COVID cases. The most concerning one comes from England and has been reported in states across the country.  

> Wear the mask, wash your hands, watch your distance 

> Statewide Community Resources Portal- can be used by schools, community organizations, and all Arkansans. It will include resources for needs like food insecurity, clothing closets, mental health support and more. This list will continue to grow.  

>COVID emergency leave (for teachers and school staff) was fully expended CARES act funds. New federal funds can be used to help offset costs to meet outstanding claims for emergency leave. Encourage districts to use funds to continue emergency leave support.
