Governor Hutchinson 9/29/2020 COVID-19 Press Conference
>Arkansas is still in the red zone according to the weekly White House COVId report. However, it says, Arkansas has seen stability in new cases and test positivity in the last week.
> Active cases in school:
K-12 public school districts: week beginning 9/21= 748, week beginning 9/28= 717
Colleges/universities: week beginning 9/21= 701, week beginning 9/28= 490
>Increase of 482 cases in last 24 hours for a total of 80,003 cumulative cases
> Down 6 hospitalizations to 490
> Up 21 deaths to 1,204 Arkansans who have died from COVID-19.
> We have a low positivity rate, but a high number of cases.
> Active cases- down in the last few days
> Cumulative tests in Arkansas= 1,002,538 (part of the winter strategy was to reach one million PCR tests)
> Antigen tests- have done over 21,000 in August (more than doubled the September goal)
> Growth rate of new COVID cases in Arkansas (September 20-Setpember 26) by age group= 0-17 years old is 6.4% growth rate; 18-24 is 6.5% growth rate; 25-44 age group is 5.5% growth rate, 45-64 age group is 6.5% growth rate; 65+ age group is 8.2% growth rate.
> Growth rate by region= Northwest has the fastest growing rate. Northwest Arkansas is also the most active in number of cases.
> PCR testing in last 24 hours- 5,394, antigen testing 1,167
> 482 new cases in last 24 hours, only 6 in correctional
> Four Counties over 20 cases in last 24 hour= 65 Washington, Pulaski 47, Sebastian 33, Benton 31
> Reminder of the proper wearing of masks. It should be worn covering the nose and mouth.
> 36 schools are under some modification (93 have inactive modification- which means they have returned to in-person learning)
> 26 schools needed modification last week (most likely from Labor Day weekend)
> Football games have been cancelled as a response to local active cases. This has been under the guidance of ADH.
