Employment Information

Employment is conditional upon the individual's ability to successfully complete the hiring process. We are committed to hiring persons of character and integrity who seek a sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, and personal growth in the service to their community. If at any time the applicant does not pass any part of the hiring process, an e-mail will be sent from the City's Human Resources Department.

Civilian Applicants Must:

  1. Possess a High School Diploma or GED
  2. Be at least 18 years of age
  3. Be able to read, write and speak the English Language

Police Officer Applicants Must:

  1. Be a United States Citizen
  2. Possess a High School Diploma or GED
  3. Possess a valid driver's license
  4. Be at least 21 years of age
  5. Be able to read, write and speak the English language
  6. Be in good Physical condition

Police Applicants

Upon successful completion of the hiring process, police officer applicants will attend a 13-week/522 hour Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy (ALETA). Upon graduation of the police academy, officers must successfully pass a 14-week Field Training program and a final check ride prior to performing solo law enforcement duties.

Certified Police Applicants

Certified officers who hold a valid certification through the Arkansas Commission of Law Enforcement Standards and Training, will be required to complete a Field Training Program and may qualify for an abbreviated program based on knowledge and experience. 

Out of State Applicants - Certified Officers from out of state may qualify for an abbreviated program of the hiring process and must attend an ALETA refresher course and field training program based on knowledge, experience, training and certification level. Eligibility to attend a refresher course is determined by the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training.
