On Monday, August 7, 2017, Siloam Springs Police Department was made aware of a Facebook post referencing alleged sex trafficking in one of the city parks. This Facebook post received hundreds of comments and thousands of shares of the original post. On Monday, detectives from the Siloam Springs Police Department met with and interviewed the author of the post. During this interview with detectives, the female described an interaction she experienced while at Bob Henry Park on Saturday, August 5 at approximately 5:30 p.m. The interaction made the reporting party extremely uncomfortable to the point she departed the park with her children. After departing the park, she did attempt to contact the police department communications center on the police department non-emergency number. Due to the caller’s cell phone having an insufficient charge she was unable to maintain a connection and report her concerns of the interaction to officers. Upon returning to her home and after describing her interaction to other persons, the caller received multiple opinions and advice which included posting the interaction on social media and an opinion that this incident may be related to sex trafficking.
Based on the information provided by the reporting party the police department has no information which would support the theory that this incident was related to sex trafficking. The Siloam Springs Police Department takes the safety and security of the citizens who live or visit Siloam Springs very seriously. This incident is still under investigation as the department works to identify and interview the persons involved with this incident.
The first male described in this incident is a Hispanic/Latin American male, approximately 35 years of age, approximately 6’0” in height with black hair which is short on the sides and spiked on top. The male was described as wearing a black shirt with the work “Nike” in lime green or yellow print, blue jeans, black shoes. The male is believed to have been using a cell phone camera to possibly record the reporting party. Three other persons related to this incident are described as Hispanic/Latin American males, with short black hair and approximately early to mid-20’s in age. The vehicle associated with these three males is a red in color late model, possibly 2016 Chevrolet 1500 4-door pickup truck with a red grill.
