Fire Department Implements New Smoke Detector Installation Program

check presentation from Centennial Bank representatives

The Siloam Springs Fire Department is excited to announce a new program aimed to increase the number of working smoke detectors in the community. This service will allow Siloam Springs city residents to receive free installation of battery powered smoke detectors. According to the National Fire Protection Association, 60% of all home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with no working smoke alarms. “The need for working smoke detectors cannot be understated,” said Fire Chief Jeremey Criner. “Early notification of a fire by means of a working smoke alarm gives families the best chance to escape in the event of a fire.”

The program was conceived in January with the American Red Cross to provide the Fire Department with an initial 25 free smoke detectors. Since then, Centennial Bank, provided an additional $1,000 donation to the Fire Department to purchase a supply of smoke detectors and spare batteries.

Siloam Springs residents who would like to request a free smoke detector and installation are asked to contact the Fire Department at 479-524-3103 or firedepartment@siloamsprings.com
